| Our work in Africa |
Here a short overview about some of our areas of work in Africa.
In Africa we are working in seven countries: in Cameroon, in Sierra Leone, in the Central African Republic, in Equatorial-Guinea, in the Republic of South Africa, in Mozambique and in Malawi.
In general, we are assisting national partner-unions in these countries by sending missionaries and providing support for the ministries of education, medicare, and evangelism and church-growth.
Missionaries
Our partner-unions in Africa request missionary co-workers to come and support them in those areas in which they lack specific knowledge or experience. Our missionaries mainly work as theological teachers, in church-growth activities and in the management of church-based social programmes.
Education
Many young people in Africa today, even if they do receive basic education, live without any perspective to provide for themselves and build families. Therefore we support schools as well as job-oriented education.
But we are also aware of the fact that the young and growing churches and Conventions need well-prepared leaders and co-workers. We therefore support Bible Schools and Theological Seminaries in the countries we work with, and provide special scholarships for specialist training overseas (theological, medical, administrative).
Evangelism and church-growth
Our task, however, would be incomplete if we fail to tell people everywhere about God's love for humanity and the means of salvation He provided through our good Lord Jesus Christ. In order to enable everyone to hear the Gospel and to respond to God's invitation, we assist partner-unions in planting of churches and the developing of discipleship programmes to equip local Christians for evangelism and missionary activities.
Medicare
The provision of medicare, particularly in the rural areas of Africa, is grossly insufficient. In general sick people have to walk long distances to reach a health-center, and are generally unable to pay for these facilities. Therefore we help with the building and running of hospitals, small health centres and mobile clinics, and the provision of trained health workers and inexpensive medicines.
