How Lucy is helping children in Africa
I brought some posters and money-boxes with EBM/MASA logo from last year's Mission Council in Paris.
At home I sticked the poster on the wall. On the poster you can see a little girl from Africa. My little daughter Lucy observed it and then asked me about the girl. I explained to her that there are some poor and needy people in the world. I explained that they do not have so many things, toys and food as we have. She was touched and in the evening she brought me some toys and told me that we will send it to the poor children. I answered that it is too expensive and difficult to send it, but there is a way to help. I suggested her if she did not eat any sweets, any goodies for all day, in the evening I would give her some saved money and she can put it into the money-box and then we will send the money to the needy children. She answered me that she wanted sweets, but we should also send some money to the children. I replied: "Yes, but this money was only sent by me and mom, but if you also want to help them you must not eat sweets for all day". But I thought that she was too young for this hard decision, she is four years old. So I was surprised when a few days later in the morning Lucy asked me for help, that she tried not to eat sweets for all day. And she really made it for all day and in the evening she was happy that before she went sleep she put her first saved money into the money-box.
I told this testimony on the conference of Czech Baptist Union and many parents asked me for posters and money-boxes, because every child likes sweets and all the parents think that their children eat too many sweets.
Also an elderly couple asked me for the money-box. They explained to me that they smoked and they wanted to stop it. So they decided to pay the same money that the cigarettes cost into the money-box - and they saved the most of all my church.
So I try to organize some support for EBM through the renunciation of something.
